Camden is full of life and exudes a trendy, colourful and cosmopolitan aura famous for its markets, music, books, fashion, foods and so much more.

Set in the local authority of the London Borough of Camden, the area stretches from North-West London into Central London and comprises a mixture of council buildings, mainly to the south, and Victorian and Georgian houses to the north offering stylish homes for those with good incomes as prices have risen substantially over the years in Camden.

Brief history of Camden

In April 1965, the London Borough of Camden replaced the former metropolitan boroughs of Hampstead, Holborn, and St Pancras.

Camden was named after the first Earl Camden, Charles Pratt, who started the development of Camden Town in 1791. Camden Town's expansion as a major centre came with the opening of the Regent's Canal to traffic in 1820.

The conversion of Camden Lock's wharves and warehouses on the Regent's Canal to craft markets in the 1970s ensured Camden Town's future as one of London's top tourist attractions.
